Like Meat – Like Bratwurst aka like good alternative
Like Meat is a German company founded in 2013 by Timo Recker.
Similar to the founders of Hermann (see review here), Timo has a background in the meat industry and had a turning point where he realised that plant-based protein is better for his health and for the environment. And as many new businesses, Timo found himself in the situation of not being able to find any good and satisfying meat replacement and therefore, created LikeMeat.
Business Background
LikeMeat is part of the LiveKindly co., a accumulation of vegan food brands to share distribution and network across the globe. In an interview with the Vegconomist the founder explained their plans with the new partnership in the back. The company is still aiming to become market leader in Europe with its USP around chicken products but also focusing on new product development such as raw sausages and meat. Their production plants are in the Netherlands and are meant to triple in size this year.
The raw sausage does not smell like sausages but like a soy product which is acceptable considering the fact that their products consist of soy. Once fried however, the sausages taste really good and give you the satisfaction of bratwurst (as a girl with a sausage tattoo I know what I am talking about). The product is firm, tasty and has the right look. I would highly recommend it and will definitely buy it again in the future. I was testing another product simoultanously – check out the review here.
