Vegan Schnitzel by Kaufland K-Take it Veggie (private label)
Kaufland is one of the big German supermarket chains in Europe and introduced its vegan brand K take it veggie in 2016 (private label). The first product from their take it veggie range I tried was their vegan schnitzel.
Their vegan products range from falafel to dips to burgers. Ahything a Western heart is seeking for. The only thing they are missing at the moment are vegan fish sticks from what I saw – please correct me if I am wrong. If you wonder what their Falafel tastes like check out my post here.
So how does a vegan schnitzel taste like? Generally speaking, I am very satisfied with vegan chicken products so far, which can be said about this product as well. It is crunchy from the outside and brings the right texture to the plate from the inside. My only issue with chicken subsitutes so far is that in a bun they are tasteless unlike a real piece of chicken (due to its maranade but still). This explains the slightly lower score at taste. I am excited to see what future products hold in for us!
Kaufland buys its vegan products from a Dutch producer called Vegafit. They produce multiple vegan meat alternatives and according to their website demand in the German market is continuously growing. I am very curious which other supermarket sells their products, too. See ingredients below.
