Frankonia seems to offer everything our lactone, soy and sugar intolerant friends are looking for. However, they also provide what us plant based friends are looking for: good vegan chocolate.

I have not tried any other product of their but the white chocolate brand is quite good. So far I had issues with finding a good chocolate brand but this one hits the spot quite well.

Nevertheless, something in the aftertaste is odd, yet I can’t put my finger on it but generally speaking it tastes good. I would give it 2 out of 3 thumbs.

What is the story of Frankonia?

Founded in 1869 in Germany, it is quite a traditional brand and based on their story the company produced quite traditional chocolate until 2004, when the first chocolate with less sugar was produced and sold. From there the company seemed to have taken a new road and understood the value of the other consumer, away from the mainstream. In 2015 they started to create vegan chocolate and today we have 2020 and it is the first time I have discovered their brand. Today they replace milk with rice milk powder and it works. So far they only have four different vegan products – I am sure this will increase in the future.

Below you can find our review model based on smell, texture, taste and look. Texture and look were really satisfying, these ones are probably difficult not to achieve when it comes to chocolate. Although the smell was quite similar to regular white chocolate, I found it just a bit different and smelling that vegan chocolate smell (do you know what I mean?). Tastewise it was quite good, as mentioned above, however, I am not a big fan of the aftertaste, which is why I gave it less points. All in all, a very good vegan chocolate which I will happily buy again. Thank you Frankonia!
